SIFU FRANCIS FONG

 

Sifu Francis Fong has over 30 years experience in Wing Chun and is considered by many to be one of the finest Wing Chun instructors in the U.S.A. Sifu Francis Fong is head instructor at the Francis Fong academy. 

He began his study under Sifu Jiu Wan in Hong Kong back in 1965. Later, Sifu Francis decided to move to the United States and in 1973 he traveled to New York; relocating two years later to Atlanta, GA at which time he opened the Francis Fong Martial Arts Academy.

While working on the movie "Sharky's Machine" Sifu Francis met Guro Dan Inosanto who was also working on the movie. This led to Sifu Francis studying Jun Fan Gung Fu/Jeet Kune Do and the Filipino martial arts. Sifu Francis is the Georgia Representative for Guro Dan Inosanto with Full Instructor ranking in both Filipino martial arts and Jun Fan Gung Fu (JKD Concepts). Additionally, Sifu Francis is an instructor in Muay Thai and also the Southeastern representative for the Thai Boxing Association U.S.A. under the direction of Master "Chai" Sirisute. 

Sifu Francis is a member of Defensive Tactics Instructor Association of the state of Georgia and is a certified Head Police Defensive Tactics Instructor, whom has trained police officers, S.W.A.T. teams, and "Fort Benning Rangers" in close quarters tactics. Due to his background and experience, the U.S. Army sought his help in updating of an Army training manual to include principles of Wing Chun, Muay Thai and Filipino Kali. Over the years, Sifu has trained many students worldwide, including training with and personally training several celebrities in the arts. He has been featured in Inside Kung Fu Magazine several times. In 1988, he was nominated for the "Instructor of the Year" by Inside Kung Fu Magazine. Sifu has been both recognized and featured in many media publications over the years, and most recently featured once again in the April 1999 issue of Inside Kung-Fu magazine. . Sifu Fong's dynamic teaching style and warm personality make both his classes and seminars a wonderful learning experience for all
